Somehow it’s been three years since we wrote about the singer, songwriter and drummer Hiang Child with his single ‘Solve’, but here we are, how time flies when we’re having fun and listening to endless streams of music. Today, we’re really glad that the Indonesian-Welsh artist Ed Riman has popped back onto our radar with the new release of ‘Good To Be Young’. It’s a carefree track that begins with metallic loops, layered keys and Riman’s gentle vocals, before breaking the mold into fuzzed-to-the-max guitars and thunderous drums. Yet even as this contrast plays out, ‘Good To Be Young’ remains an optimistically upbeat indie-pop single designed to inspire the listener to embrace themselves, whether they’re physically young or young at heart. As the central refrain dictates, “how are we, / So insecure, / As to hide our stories? / We never let it all hang out,” provoking the idea that we should indeed be doing the opposite.
